Fire Retardant Coatings

Fire Retardant Coatings

The task of these coatings is to protect the underlying surface, which if the fire is accelerated and the heat goes up, until the fire extinguishing system is applied, the structure will not be destroyed. In some fires, due to the heat generated, the structure, especially the metal structure, is deformed and there is a possibility that all of the walls and ceiling fall down. This is very important in the case of storage tanks of dangerous chemical materials, which the deformation of the structure can cause chemical leakage and irreparable damages. Fireproofing coatings are available in three types of water based, solvent based and cement based. Their thickness is based on the duration of their resistance to different fire. For example, the water based type, in case of flames coming directly towards it, is foamed and puffed, and protects the underlying surface like an insulator.
